Several years ago, a few of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority members sought to provide service to North Mobile, Washington, and Clarke counties of Alabama. Throughout 2020 and 2021 these said members reactivated, reclaimed, and engaged inactive pearls. The body grew to 28 members with diverse backgrounds and a wealth of expertise and experiences.
With the support, encouragement and guidance of South Eastern 26th Regional Director Mitzi Dease Paige, they began their journey to become an official graduate chapter of the Illustrious Alpha Kappa Alpha. Despite the challenges and restrictions of Coronavirus (Covid-19) the sorority members completed bylaws, elected officers, formed committees, and collaborated with other agencies and organizations in North Mobile, Washington, and Clarke counties of Alabama, completing global targets of the sorority.
They conducted service projects consistent with Alpha Kappa Alpha’s motto “Service to All Mankind.” On May 21, 2022 under the leadership of South Eastern 26th Regional Director, Mitzi Dease Paige, we became chartered as the 112th chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated’s ® South Eastern Region.
